Ruth Roman was born on June 22, 1939 at Lynn Massachusetts. Ruth Roman is the youngest child of Lithuanian Jewish parents Mary Pauline Gold & Abraham Roman. When she was a young girl, Roman's carnival-barker father passed away in a tragic way, which forced her mother, Mary Pauline (Gold), to become a waitress or cleaner so that they could remain alive. Ruth lived in a slum Boston Tenement area in Massachusetts. She attended school in Boston. But she quit school in the span of two years in order to explore a career in acting. Her journey was not without obstacles. the path she chose to pursue. When she was in New York she was hired to take photos in a crime magazine, but no theatrical jobs were forthcoming. When she was employed as a hat-check woman in a nightclub she quit and returned to Boston. The city of Boston was where she worked during the night as an actor with New England Repertory Company and for the remainder of her time, was an usherette. She earned a bachelor's degree in drama from Bishop-Lee Theatre School.
